Fedgy Fertil's Double Overtime Goal Lifts Boys Soccer To WPIAL Semifinals

For the second time in a week, Plum soccer scored a double overtime goal to advance to the WPIAL semifinals.
On Saturday, it was the boys turn when senior Fedgy Fertil's goal in front of the net lifted the top-seed Mustangs to a 3-2 win against No. 8 Canon-McMillan in the Class 4A quarterfinals.
The Big Macs scored an early goal to take a 1-0 lead before junior Austin Kolankowsky tied it up later in the first half for a 1-1 halftime score.
Senior Gage Adinolfi drilled one in the top left corner of the goal in the second half to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead. Canon-McMillan tied it with 10 minutes remaining in the game.
Garrett Chandler and Noah Smith assisted on goals.
This is the Mustangs fourth trip to the semifinals in six years.
They will face No. 4 North Allegheny on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Gateway High School.
The Mustangs and Tigers played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
