Michael Tedrick's One-Hitter Leads Varsity Baseball To Outright Section Title

For the second day in a row, the varsity baseball team defeated Greater Latrobe 3-0 behind a stellar pitching performance.
This time, Michael Tedrick twirled a complete game one-hitter and struck out four.
The Mustangs broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourh on a RBI double by Ryan Lafferty.
Dan Macioce went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored and Max Vollmer hit a triple and scored a run.
Jake Dombkowski singled and scored and Cam Napierkowski also recorded a hit.
The win improved their record to 17-2 overall and 11-1 in the section.
This is the third year in a row the Mustangs are section champions and fourth time in five years.
The boys will host Hempfield on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Braden Kemmerer's Gem Against Greater Latrobe Clinches Share Of Section Title

For the third straight year and fourth time in five years, the varsity baseball team can call themselves section champions.
The Mustangs earned at least a share of the section title with a 3-0 win at Greater Latrobe on Monday night.
Tim Ruggeiro hit a leadoff home run and that was all the run support Braden Kemmerer needed.
Kemmerer pitched a complete game shutout, holding the Wildcats to two hits and struck out three.
Ruggiero finished the game 2-for-3 and a walk.
Max Vollmer also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double and run scored.
Enzo Mele provided insurance with a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning.
Also recording hits for the Mustangs were Jake Dombkowski, Dan Macioce, and Brennan Ryan.
The win improves their record to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in the section.
They will host Greater Latrobe today at 4 p.m. in the section series finale.

Varsity Baseball Shuts Down Gateway For Senior Night Win

The game was delayed nearly an hour, but the weather didn't rain on the varsity baseball's senior night's parade, as the Mustangs were victorious against Gateway, 6-1, on Friday night.
Gregory Huff started and went five innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, walked four and struck out nine to get the win.
Max Vollmer and Jake Dombkowski came in relief and shut the door.
Offensively, Vollmer went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Michael Tedrick hit an RBI double. The other Mustang to get a hit was Ryan Lafferty and he scored two runs. Tim Ruggiero and Dombkowski also scored in the game.
The win improves their record to 15-2.
They will start their final regular season section series on Monday when they travel to Greater Latrobe for a 7 p.m. first pitch

Varsity Baseball Opens Game Up In Late Innings For Section Win At Franklin Regional

Tied 3-3 entering the sixth innings, the varsity baseball team scored nine runs in the final two innings to pull away with a 12-5 win at Franklin Regional's Haymaker Park on Monday.
Jake Dombkowski led the offense offense going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, four RBIs and two runs scored.
Tim Ruggiero hit a double and had two RBIs and Enzo Mele had a base hit, two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks.
Also recording RBIs were Max Vollmer, John Nonnenberg and Anthony Jump.
Connor Wilson, Dan Macioce and Ryan Lafferty also recorded hits.
Braden Kemmerer picked up the win, going six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and struck out six.
The win improves their record to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the section.
The Mustangs will host Franklin Regional today at 4 p.m. in the second game of the series.

Varsity Baseball Rallies For Series Sweep Against Kiski Area

The varsity baseball team trailed the entire game until the fifth inning when they scored four runs and held on to a 7-6 section win against Kiski Area on Wednesday night.
Connor Wilson and Brennan Ryan tied the game up with RBI singles in the fifth and Cam Napierkowski's 2-run double gave the Mustangs the lead for good. Napierkowski led the team with three RBIs and Wilson had two RBIs.
Ryan finished with two hits and Jake Dombkowski went 3-for-3 with a double and run scored.
Also recording hits for the Mustangs were Tim Ruggiero, Max Vollmer, and Ryan Lafferty.
Braden Kemmerer got the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) and struck out two.
The win improves their record to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the section.
The team will travel to Franklin Regional next Monday for a section game at 4 p.m.

Max Vollmer, Offense Leads Varsity Baseball To High Scoring Win At Kiski Area

The varsity baseball team put up the most runs they have in a game all season, and needed every bit of it in its 17-13 section win at Kiski Area on Tuesday.
Max Vollmer started the game with a three-run home run in the first inning, and finished it by pitching two scoreless innings and picking up the win. For the game, he finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs.
Tied 13-13 entering the last inning, Brennan Ryan delivered the go-ahead two run single, and the the Mustangs tacked on two more runs. Ryan went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a team-leading five RBIs.
Dan Macioce had a double, two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored and John Nonnenberg hit a pinch-hit RBI double. Ryan Lafferty hit a double as well and scored two runs.
Also recording RBIs were Connor Wilson and Anthony Jump.
Enzo Mele and Jake Dombkowsky both scored a pair of runs.
The win improves the Mustangs record to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in the section.
They will look for the series sweep against the Cavaliers tonight at 7 p.m. at home.

Braden Kemmerer Tosses Complete Game Gem To Lead Varsity Baseball Past Avonworth

Entering Thursday night's non-section showdown, Avonworth scored double-digit runs in seven of their 13 games. Braden Kemmerer didn't care as his complete game, one-hitter silenced the potent Antelope bats to lead varsity baseball to a 3-1 win.
Kemmerer didn't allow the only hit against him until a 2-out triple in the top of the sixth. He struck out three in the game.
The Mustangs scored all their runs in the first two innings, highlighted by a home run by Ryan Lafferty. Lafferty finished the game 2-for-2 with a walk, run scored and a RBI.
Jake Dombkowski hit his third triple in the last two games and had an RBI, run scored and a walk.
Connor Wilson drove in the other run.
Tim Ruggiero, Max Vollmer and Ryan Grimm also recorded hits.
The win pushes their record to 10-2.
They will jump back into section play next Tuesday when they travel to Kiski Area at 4 p.m.

Varsity Baseball Finishes Up Series Sweep Against Penn Hills

The varsity baseball team weathered the elements and made quick work of Penn Hills on Tuesday in its 15-0 win in three innings to finish the section series sweep against the Indians.
The Mustangs recorded six extra base hits, including an inside-the-park home run by Ryan Lafferty who went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a perfect 5-for-5 against the Indians in the two-game series.
Jake Dombkowski legged out two triples, drove in four runs and scored two runs in the win.
Dan Macioce hit a double and a triple and drove in a run and scored three runs. Braden Kemmerer hit the last extra base hit for the Mustangs with a pinch hit double and came around to score.
Cam Napierkowski singled and drove in two runs, including the bases loaded walk to invoke the run-rule. Also recording hits in the win were Tim Ruggiero and Max Vollmer.
Michael Tedrick picked up the win, pitching three innings and allowing one hit and struck out five.
The win improves their record to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the section.
They will go out of section and host Avonworth on Thursday night.

Varsity Baseball Cruises To Win At Penn Hills

The varsity baseball team scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in its 8-2 section win at Penn Hills.
Ryan Lafferty was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
Max Vollmer and Tim Ruggiero each recorded a pair of hits. Vollmer had a triple, single, two RBIs and a run scored. Ruggiero had two singles and three runs scored.
Jake Dombkowski had an RBI double. Also recording RBIs were Connor Wilson, Dan Macioce, and John Nonnenberg.
Braden Kemmerer started the game and picked up the win. He pitched two innings and struck out three. Andrew Monaco pitched three innings, allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out five. Vollmer pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and struck out three.
The win improves their record to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the section.
The boys will look for the sweep tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

Anthony Jump, Braden Kemmerer Lead Varsity Baseball Against Defending WPIAL Champion, Penn-Trafford

Anthony Jump smashed a two-run home run and Braden Kemmerer shut down Penn-Trafford through six innings to lead varsity baseball to a 4-1 win against defending WPIAL champion Penn-Trafford in section play on Monday.
The Mustangs scored all their runs in the fourth inning.
Ryan Lafferty opened up the scoring with a RBI triple, scoring Jake Dombowski. Lafferty came away to score on a RBI single by Tim Ruggiero. Jump doubled the lead with his home run, scoring Enzo Mele who singled.
That was all the run support Kemmerer needed, going six innings and allowing one run on six hits and struck out six.
The win improves the Mustangs record to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the section.
They will complete the season series with the Warriors when they go on the road to Penn-Trafford on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Varsity Baseball Offense Erupts In Series Sweep Against Armstrong

The varsity baseball team started fast and picked up the series sweep at Armstrong, 14-6, on Tuesday.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings.
Jake Dombkowski led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Dan Macioce went 2-for-4 with a double with an RBI and two runs scored. Connor Wilson also recorded two hits, including a double and RBI.
Max Vollmer had two RBIs and two runs scored, Timmy Ruggiero had two RBIs and John Nonnenberg had a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Michael Tedrick picked up the win on the mound.
The Mustangs improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the section.
They will travel to North Allegheny next Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Braden Kemmerer Shuts Out Armstrong In Section-Opening Win

Braden Kemmerer received more than enough run support as he and the varsity baseball team shut out Armstrong, 8-0, in the section opener on Monday.
Though six innings, Kemmerer allowed only two hits and one walk and struck out four. Greg Huff came in the seventh inning and preserved the shutout.
The Mustangs got on the board two batters in. Daniel Macioce drew a walk to start the bottom of the first, followed by an RBI double by Max Vollmer. Vollmer went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.
In the second inning, Michael Tedrick belted his first career varsity home run to left field to double the lead.
Timmy Ruggiero broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth with a bases clearing double.
The Mustangs tacked on three more in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run triple by Jake Dombkowsku, folled by an RBI single by Ryan Lafferty. Dombkowski finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and two RBIs.
The win improves the Mustangs to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the section.
They will play the second game of the Armstrong series tomorrow at Armstrong at 3:45 p.m.

Varsity Baseball Hangs On To Top Class 6A Opponent Seneca Valley, 4-3

After starting the season 3-0 in Florida, the varsity baseball team continued its winning ways with a 4-3 win in its home opener against Seneca Valley on Wednesday.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held off the Raiders, stranding the tying run on third base to end the game.
Offensively, Tim Ruggiero continued his strong start to the season with two doubles and an RBI. Also recording two hits in the game was Connor Wilson and Jake Dombkowski.
Braden Kemmerer got the start for the Mustangs, pitching three scoreless innings. Michael Tedrick got the win in relief and Max Vollmer slammed the door for the save.
The win improves their record to 4-0 and will host Armstrong on Monday at 4 p.m. in the section opener.

Varsity Baseball Starts Season 3-0 On Florida Trip

The varsity baseball team experienced a bit of everything during their spring trip to Florida this week, and all results ended with a win.
The Mustangs are coming back up north with a 3-0 record.
In their first game, Plum recorded a walk-off win in eight innings, 2-1 against Regis High School, New York.
The Mustangs were down 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on third with two outs when Ryan Lafferty delivered the game-tying single. An inning later, Timmy Ruggiero hit a walk-off single for the win.Ruggiero (2-for-4, RBI) and Brady Linhart (2-for-3, BB) were the only Mustangs with multi-hit games. Greg Huff started the game and pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, walked three and struck out five. Max Vollmer got the win in relief, pitching an inning and striking out two.
In their second game, the Mustangs overcame a 5-0 deficit and defeated Northside Christian, California by an 8-6 score. The Mustangs scored two runs in the fifth and six in the sixth to take the lead. Connor Wilson led the offense (2-for-3, four RBI and a run). Also recording multi-hit games were Enzo Mele (two RBI), Ruggiero (RBI and run) and John Nonnenberg (RBI and two runs). Jake Dombowksi got the win in relief, pitching three innings, allowing two runs (one earned), on two hits and struck out two.
In the final game, it was pitching that led the Mustangs to a 4-0 win against John F. Kennedu High School, New York. Michael Tedrick was electric in the win, going six innings, allwoing two hits and striking out 10. Offensively, Dan Macioce, Mele, Lafferty and Nonnenberg recorded RBIs.
With a 3-0 record, the Mustangs will host Seneca Valley in a non-section game on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the home opener.
