Boys Varsity Ice HockeyThe boys varsity ice hockey team picked up its third win in a row with a 4-2 victory against Meadville at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena.Scoring for the Mustangs were Luca Lapiana, Brody Howell, Colby Bartos, and Tyler Bartos.The win improves their record to 4-5 on the season.They will return to the rink on Monday when they host Wheeling Central Catholic at 8 p.m. at Pittsburgh Ice Arena.

Boys Varsity FootballThe varsity football team was well-represented when the Big 56 Conference All-Conference Teams were released on Monday.The Mustangs received four members on the first team and four members on the second team.On the first team were center, Frank Grazulis, offensive at-large Nick Odom, defensive end Darian Slaughter, and linebacker Darian Nelson.In his first year at center, Grazulis was the glue to the offensive line for the Mustangs, leading the way in the run game for Odom and Company. Odomled the team with 789 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He had four games of 100-plus rushing yards. Slaughter had 37 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and led the team with 10 sacks and caused on fumble. Nelson had 44 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one caused fumble.On the second team were guard Dorrian Anderson, wide receiver Sloan Humphries, defensive tackle Evan Corrigan, and defensive back Tyler Baleno.Anderson was another key cog in the offensiv

Girls Varsity VolleyballThe girls varsity volleyball team had three receipients land on the Big 56 second team all-section team that was released on Thursday. Seniors Lilliana Davis and Kennedy Filar and junior Mackenzie Marotta received the honors.Davis finished the season with 93 kills, 252 attacks, 26 blocks, 16 assists and seven digs.Filar had 32 aces, one kill, 20 attacks, 168 assists and 141 digs.Marotta had 28 aces, 98 kills, 418 attacks, 14 blocks, 886 assists, 136 digs.

Boys Varsity SoccerThe boys varsity soccer team were well-represented on the Big 56 Class 4A Section 1 all-section team that were released on Thursday. The Mustangs had five players land on the first team, three on the second team, and Head Coach Raf Kolankowski was named the Section Coach of the Year.On the first team was, Garrett Chandler, Gage Adinolfi, Fedgy Fertil, Austin Kolankowski, and Andy Strasser.In the regular season, Chandler had two goals and led the team with nine assists. Adinolfi led the team with 10 goals and added eight assists. Fertil had three goals and an assist. Kolankowski had five goals and an assist, and Strasser had five goals and five assists.Making second team was Noah Smith, Marco Tommasino, and Zach Carnahan.The Mustangs will travel to Altoona's Mansion Park Stadium on Saturday at noon against Cumberland Valley in the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals.

Boys Varsity SoccerThe boys varsity soccer team went back-and-forth with District 10 chamoion, McDowell, in the first round of the PIAA Class 4A playoffs.Both teams didn't allow a goal in regulation plus 30 minutes of overtime, sending it to penalty kicks.The Mustangs went down 3-1 in penalty kicks, but rallied back for a 5-4 win. Scoring goals were Gage Adinolfi, Bryce Bobich, Andy Strasser, Christian Alter and Noah Smith.Chase Eber made three saves, including the game-winning save to solidify the win. This was the Mustangs first PIAA win since 2005 and fifth overall.The boys will face District 3 champion, Cumberland Valley, on Saturday and a site and time to be announced.

Boys Varsity SoccerFor the second time in a week, Plum soccer scored a double overtime goal to advance to the WPIAL semifinals. On Saturday, it was the boys turn when senior Fedgy Fertil's goal in front of the net lifted the top-seed Mustangs to a 3-2 win against No. 8 Canon-McMillan in the Class 4A quarterfinals.The Big Macs scored an early goal to take a 1-0 lead before junior Austin Kolankowsky tied it up later in the first half for a 1-1 halftime score. Senior Gage Adinolfi drilled one in the top left corner of the goal in the second half to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead. Canon-McMillan tied it with 10 minutes remaining in the game.Garrett Chandler and Noah Smith assisted on goals.This is the Mustangs fourth trip to the semifinals in six years. They will face No. 4 North Allegheny on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Gateway High School. The Mustangs and Tigers played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.

Girls Varsity SoccerWith just under four minutes remaining before penalty kicks, freshman Keirstin Curry delivered the most clutch, and first goal of her high school career, lifting the girls varsity soccer team into the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals with a 2-1 win against defending state champion, Moon Area.From 30 yards out and in front of the Mustangs bench, Curry lifted a shot that went over the outstretched arm of the Tigers goalkeeper before her teammates rushed her in celebration.The Mustangs opened up the scoring in the first half on a goal by Emily Grubich, assisted by Gianna Revetta. The Tigers tied the game in the second half and stayed tied until Curry's game-winner.The Mustangs will face top-seed Fox Chapel in the semifinals on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined. This is their second trip to the semifinals in three years.

The Titans settled into the game and had a furious rally late in the first half, but the Mustangs were able to keep them off the scoreboard for the 1-0 halftime lead.The score remained a one goal game for majority of the second half until senior Mia Nardo headed in a cross from Gianna Revetta to double the lead and give the Mustangs some breathing room.Junior Allison Porter put the finishing touches on the game with a goal, assisted by Ali Joyce.Senior Makenna Anderson and sophomore Malayna Smith combined for the shutout.With the win, the Mustangs will host No. 5 Moon in the WPIAL Class 3A Quarterfinals on Thursday after the Tigers defeated Hampton, 4-0, in the first round.

Girls Varsity SoccerThe girls varsity soccer team was well represented when the all-section teams were released with seven girls being named to the team.Catie Weiss, Makenna Anderson, Mia Nardo, Serena Carnahan, Gianna Revetta, Emily Grubich and Meghan Stammer received the honors.Weiss was one of the top defenders on the Mustangs this year with a team that recorded 12 shutouts. She also had two assists. Anderson allowed only two goals in 790 minutes in goal. Nardo was tied for third on the team with seven goals and had six assists. Carnahan had two goals and five assists. Revetta was second on the team with 10 goals and had seven assists. Grubich led the team with 18 goals and four assists. Stammer had two goals.The Mustangs, who won its sixth straight section title, earned the No. 4 seed in the Class 3A WPIAL playoffs and will host No. 13 Shaler on Monday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The game was broken open a little in the second quarter with two touchdown passes from John Nonnenberg to make it 19-10 at the half. Nonnenberg found Sloan Humphries for a 8-yard touchdown and Brendan Marston for a 21-yard touchdown.The Mustangs took complete control in the second half, outscoring the Foxes 30-0.The scoring started with a safety after Fox Chapel had a bad snap that went out of the end zone. The Mustangs had two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter, a 12-yard run by Nick Odom and a 2-yard run by Nick Sheffo.In the fourth quarter, Nelson scored his second rushing touchdown of the game from a yard out and Sheffo scored his second touchdown of the game on a 22-yard fumble recovery to finish the scoring.Nelson finished with 153 yards on eight carries
